Engagements
Director. Photographer.
Each couple’s love story comes to life differently, looking and feeling completely unique to their shared experiences. In some cases the culmination of that story feels cozy and intimate, in other cases, that climactic moment needs to be represented as a surprise and for some couples, their heritage and community is imperative in celebrating their shared future.
Engagement photos represent a transition; photographing a couple’s proposal, engagement event or post-engagement shoot is an opportunity to document their love story as it has unfolded thus far: how can we represent your winding romantic history in a limited album? Through this process, I create images that inevitably serve as cherished memories for an unwritten future.
The photos I provide couples are the images that precede “… and they lived happily ever after!” right before the credits roll to the beat of a Peter Gabriel song. A shared history meets an unwritten future.

My approach to photographing a couple is to produce the culminating scene of the romantic-comedy that is their love story, let the couple inhabit the scene and be present to photograph the magic that ensues.
I am able to do this by working closely with the couple to understand their story; I manifest a location, props and a theme using key moments from their daily lives together. Although I successfully create film stills from what feels like a romantic comedy, the final product, in essence, are moments from a documentary.
